- Balantonfüred is a sophisticated, yet peaceful place and well worth visiting area in Hungary
- Eger warrants a visit. It's a beautifully preserved baroque town, with a relaxed, almost Mediterranean feel. Flanked by two of the Northern Uplands' most splendid ranges of hills it is home to the celebrated Egri Bikavér (Eger Bull's Blood) wine.
- Try your hand at Fishing! Again, like many outdoor activities in this country, this is one sport the whole family can enjoy. The River Tisza and the Danube Delta offer some of the best fresh water fishing to be found anywhere, let alone in Hungary.
- Bird lover or not, a trip to the Hortobágy National Park is an experience not to be missed.
- Get out in the open air and go Horse Riding. With its long tradition of equestrianism, horse riding is particularly good in Hungary. Long-distance riding in areas such as the Great Plain with its wide open spaces is popular and riders are well catered for.
- Get a tan on the shores of Lake Balaton. This oblong lake from Budapest, is one of the largest in Europe.
- The tiny town of Máriapócs is an important place of pilgrimage and is worth getting off the well beaten track to see.
- Don’t miss Pécs, one of the most interesting cities in Hungary. Lying equidistant from the Danube and the Dráva rivers in Southern Transdanubia, it is blessed with a mild climate.
- Teat your body and soul to a Spa in Budapest, which alone has over 100 thermal springs and around 50 swimming pools and medicinal baths.
- If you get bored with the beach and the crowds at Lake Balaton you can take a trip to nearby Szántódpuszta, a recreational centre of perfectly preserved 18th- and 19th-century farm buildings, barns, workshops, and a Baroque church.
